About

Ashee Softworks runs the platform. Schools own what is in it.

Ashee SMS begins by making academic results accurate, manageable and genuinely trustworthy, and is built to grow into the system a school runs on without ever having to start over.

Two things kept separate

The school's data, and the platform that runs it.

The distinction is the product's first design decision, and it is the one every other page on this site depends on.

Schools own their data

The information a school puts into Ashee SMS remains the school's. It is not ours to mine, sell, or reuse.

Ashee Softworks runs the platform

The product, its architecture and the infrastructure that runs it belong to Ashee Softworks — which is what lets one platform serve many schools consistently.

Principles

How the product is written.

Four statements that decide what gets built and, more often, what does not.

  • The school owns its data

What a school puts in remains the school's. It is not ours to mine, sell or reuse, and leaving would not mean abandoning it.

  • One product, not one per school

Schools join a shared platform rather than receiving an installation. Nothing is built or maintained per school, which is what makes each new school fast to onboard.

  • No claim before it is true

The pages state what the product does today. Where a capability or an assurance does not exist, the page says so rather than leaving the gap to be read as a feature.

  • Quiet software

A school office uses this every day. The interface is dense with information and sparing with everything else: no celebrations, no badges for logging in, nothing that competes with the work.

Why it is different

Most systems store marks. This one keeps what is behind them.

Results you can stand behind

A correction leaves a trail: the previous value, who changed it, and when. A published result is frozen as issued, and a later change becomes a new version rather than an edit to the old one.

A platform, not an installation

A new school joins the shared platform. Nothing is built, deployed or maintained per school, so one deployment serves every school and each new school is fast to onboard.

Built to keep growing

Grade management first, then academic management, then teaching and beyond — added to the platform the school already uses rather than replacing it.

Where it grows

One platform, four stages.

Each stage is added to the platform a school already uses, rather than replacing it with a new one. A school that adopts the first does not have to leave for the second.

Grade management

The year, the people and the marks, with results a school can publish and defend.

Academic management

The structures around the marks: classes, subjects, placements and the assignments between them.

Teaching and learning

The work a teacher does around a mark: assignments, attendance and the record of both.

School management

Administration, communication and the everyday running of the institution.
