The words schools use differently, stated once. A definition here is a sentence, not a page: the task pages are where the work is.
The words
- Academic year: the container for a school's year, named by the school, divided into terms.
- Term: a division of the year. A semester and a quarter are the school's own name for the same idea, and the screens follow the school's choice.
- Class: a group of students taught together, such as JSS 1A.
- Subject: what is taught, such as Mathematics.
- Placement: the dated record that a student was in a class for a year.
- Assessment: one piece of work that is marked — a test, a project, an examination.
- Mark: the number recorded for a student, a subject and an assessment.
- Result: what the school's own rules work out from the marks, ranked in its class and published as a fixed record.
- Published version: the fixed record a school issued for a term. A later correction adds a new version; the published one stays as issued.
- Correction: a recorded change to a mark, with the earlier value, a reason, and a reviewer where the school requires one.
- Request id: the identifier a request carries. It is what support needs to find the exact request.
