A class is a group of students taught together. A subject is what is taught. A placement is the dated record that a student was in a class for a year.
The order that works
- Add the year's classes, using the school's own names.
- Add the year's subjects, with their codes if the school uses them.
- Admit each student and place them in a class. A student can be admitted before the class is settled; the placement is a separate record.
- Register each teacher and assign them to a class and a subject together. That pair is what they can see.
Why the pair matters
A teacher is never assigned to a subject in the abstract. Their screens show the class-and-subject pairs they hold, and nothing else.
